Raft of Leaves

Aging, dying, foreignness and friendship were personal and academic interests of Marti Parker, a professor of social gerontology at the Karolinska Institutet Aging Research Center, in Sweden. With humor and insight, Parker wrote short fiction and poetry and published two novels under the pen names M. Gale Parker and Martha Gale. Raft of Leaves: On Aging, Death and Foreignness gathers some of Parker’s writings, along with short stories, essays and poems by Annie Norell Beach, Cas Blomberg, Amy Brown, Paul Burns, Gary Clarke, Sara Hendey, Pat Pegg Jones, Kimberly Kane, Indra-Jeet Mistry, Marti Parker, Ron Pavellas, Judy Petersen, Renate Walder and Elizabeth Clark Wessel. Photographs by Miranda McEvilly and Ron Pavellas complement the texts. The anthology was edited by Karen Hagersten, Rebecca Foreman, Sara Hendey and Ron Pavellas and published by the Stockholm Writers Group.
