The Stockholm Writers’ Group was established in 1994 by a group of English-speaking expats. Since that time, members have been writing poetry, memoirs, novels, short stories, erotica, philosophy, flash fiction and plays. The core group is limited to twelve members, the size proven best for active writing, inspiration and critiquing, and meets every two weeks to critique each other’s work with the intent to publish. Beyond that, the group organizes workshops and attends conferences in the U.S. and Europe. Scores of writers have participated in writing sessions, workshops and meetings.
Why a group? Anyone who’s ever stared into the abyss of a blank screen knows that stringing words together is lonely work. Our sessions serve as a stick for beating out word count and provide a space for getting and giving constructive input. It is a source of strength in numbers from people who understand the process and can nudge—or shove—you along.
